Sales Tools For Busy Graphic and Web Designers
One of the hardest parts of running any business is finding new clients. It is said to cost up to six times as much to get a new client as to sell to an existing client. With that statistic in mind (did you know that 43% of statistics are made up on the spot), I wanted to show you a simple tool to help you sell more to existing clients.
I would recommend a low key sales approach, maybe discuss the brand audit over a coffee with smaller clients. Suggest they phase in the new material over a period of time. Allowing them to budget for your costs and for you to schedule work in your quieter moments and spread your income more evenly. If you can do this with say 10 existing clients and pick up 2 or 3 pieces of work from each…how would that affect your cash flow.
Here is a sample list of items to discuss when looking at a client’s brand. This list is by no means exhaustive, so feel free to add your own or remove those that don’t apply to you.

Just a thought on removing items, could you sub out that work and take a percentage? If you don’t do print, find a designer who does to cooperate with and be of more service to your client.
