HOW WORKING WITH A MASTERMIND GROUP CAN HELP YOU ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS
There are three options in business:
- Compete and
If you are just participating you become involved and enjoy it. Nothing wrong with that I hear you say. When you become serious about your business and doing well you’ve gone beyond participation and are now competing. To succeed in business, and by this I mean come independently wealthy, you need to drive and stimulus to outclass and lead your competition. A mastermind group allows you to meet like minded business owners.
The problem with competing and succeeding is the long-term commitment and focus that it needs. For that you need a team to support, motivate, inspire and on occasions kick you up the backside. You also need to think differently, think outside the box and act on those thoughts.
I have a quick test for you here:
How many F’s do you see in the box?
Do you see three or four? Count again, there are actually six. We miss the F in of as our brains filter ‘of’ out because it is common and we take it for granted. How many F’s do we miss in our own business because we take them for granted. When someone else looks at our business and communicates what they see its like gaining fresh insight about an old friend (or foe).
Where will you find your team? Will it be your friends, family or employees?
“Honest criticism is hard to take, particularly from a relative, a friend, an acquaintance, or a stranger.” Franklin P. Jones
Joking aside, honest criticism from a teammate who has your best interests at heart is the least offensive and most useful kind.
Mastermind groups were first suggested by Napoleon Hill in his seminal book “Think and Grow Rich”. By bringing together individuals with similar interests you get:
- A team providing a valuable support network
- Brainstorming with the team for ideas and answers;
- Shared experience, expertise and self-confidence;
- Accountability and motivation to achieve your desired goals;
- A sense of teamwork in accomplishing shared outcomes; and
- An outside perspective on how things could be done rather than how they have been done in the past.
